In June, letters of invitation were sent to potential members for their participation in newly formed Policy and Planning Standards Committee for Sustainability/Urban Design Development Program. The committee’s activities cut across all transportation modes. Members include representatives from APTA business and transit system membership. The first committee meeting was held July 31 in Seattle, Washington, in conjunction with the APTA Sustainability and Public Transportation Workshop. The need for a committee was confirmed and topics were identified. In addition, the agenda included setting standard operating procedures and priorities, including the development of working groups on urban design development standards and carbon reduction standards. The next meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2007, in conjunction with the APTA Annual Meeting.
