The APTA Rail Transit Vehicle Inspection Maintenance Committee develops and maintains standards and recommended practices covering the inspection and maintenance of all major vehicle subsystems and components. The APTA Rail Transit Chief Executive Officers recently approved expanding the Committee’s scope to include some vehicle design features subject to National Transportation Safety Board recommendations. The Committee will investigate developing standards covering emergency exits, emergency signs, low level exit path marking and emergency lighting.
