Technology Procurement

As transit agencies incorporate more technology into their operations, standards that affect the procurement of these technologies will provide the purchasing agency guidance for the procurement process. Technology procurements have inherent differences from other procurements that agencies process. Therefore, standards specific to technology will significantly improve the development of terms and conditions and risk management for these procurements.

Suppliers will benefit from these standards by having an understanding of the agency’s risk assessment early on in the procurement process. This will enable suppliers to address these areas in their responses. Discussions and negotiations will be able to begin from a point of mutual understanding of the risks involved and how those risks can be shared.
